Flavio Paolucci (in the 2-RAUM of the Museum Art.Plus)
In his poetic works, the Swiss artist Flavio Paolucci (*1934) achieves a synthesis of nature and culture.
Born and raised in the Blenio Valley in the Swiss canton of Ticino, the artist has always sought the engagement with nature, and nature itself eventually became an integral part of his art.
Having gone through different phases and influences, from Art Informel and Neo-Dadaism to Pop Art, Paolucci's work since the 1970s has been shaped by his engagement with Arte Povera and a conceptual approach.
Central motifs of his creative practice are natural forms, especially branches, often in combination with strict graphic lines and forms as well as houses. His materials also serve as carriers of meaning. Paolucci arranges different kinds of wood, branches, twigs, stones and paper worked with soot and transparent colours into delicate, fragile-looking images, objects and sculptures. They give expression to his quest for the balance between fact and fiction, dream and reality, growth and decay, nature and civilization.
The exhibition presents sculptures, installations and pictures from the 1990s to today.
