The steel sculptor Günter Wagner welded the freestanding sculpture titled “Aufliegend” from Corten steel and placed it on a low concrete pedestal. Although it rests heavily on the surface, it gives the impression that it could lift off the ground and fly away at any moment over its rounded front curve. It is the characteristic inner tension between stillness and movement that marks many of Günter Wagner's works—a temporarily contained energy that is especially vividly expressed in this piece.
