Exhibition Opening Siegfried Kreitner – Minimal Kinetics
Sun, November 23, 2025, 12pmin the 2-Raum
Siegfried Kreitner (b. in Simbach am Inn in 1967) studied sculpture in Berlin and New York and taught kinetic object construction at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich from 2005 to 2015.
Movement and light are central to his sculptures, which he describes as examples of ‘minimal kinetics’: slow, precise and pared back in form and speed. His works, made of aluminium, stainless steel, Plexiglas, neon tubes and electric motors, are based on basic geometric shapes and complex mechanical processes.
Despite their cool, understated materials, the sculptures exude an unexpected sensuality.
Kreitner’s works explore the relationship between form, space, movement and time. Every tme the casings of his objects open almost imperceptibly, light radiates from within – as though it wanted to escape into the surrounding space and enter into dialogue with the viewers.
