Camill Leberer

09.04. – 25.06.2017, in the 2-Raum

Camill Leberer (b. in 1953 in Kenzingen / lives and works in Stuttgart) is a sculptor as well as a painter, draughtsman and photographer.
Since the 1980s, the artist has been pursuing a singular creative practice, opening and expanding sculpture towards painting and painting towards sculpture. Leberer's favourite materials are paint, steel and glass, but also translucent plastic and paper, which he uses in freestanding three-dimensional pieces as well as wall-based works. Technoid and poetic in equal measure, his works resist unequivocal categorisation as sculpture, painting and drawing, eschew the differentiation between two- and three-dimensionality, open and closed form, proximity and distance, front and back, materiality and immateriality.

With a choice selection of drawings, photographic works, paintings, sculptures and large-scale installations, the exhibition in the 2-Raum presents a concise cross section of Leberer's complex oeuvre.
