Reinhard Sigle - On the Beautiful Blue Danube into the Gulf of Mexico | With an audio installation by Marie Hak

Deißlingen-based sculptor Reinhard Sigle (b. 1954) is a past master of the fine art of the mis-en-scène and equally adept at that of ‘going against the current’ of whatever the latest prevalent trend happens to be. Consistently thought-provoking, his installations have been causing a stir for over three decades.

Sigle’s material of choice is timber or firewood: planks, slats, splinters and shavings. Using glue, the artist assembles these roughly hewn fragments into fragile, three-dimensional structures that do not conceal the marks of his working process. Bright signal colours underline the object character of his works.

In the 2-Raum of Museum Art.Plus, Sigle is presenting a blue cloud with ‘biological content’ as well as an installation made of materials that are rather unusual for him – among them a children’s trampoline and stress balls in the shape of terrestrial globes.

His works are worldly-wise – they pick up on the everyday reality of life today. As a critical observer, the artist takes a stand on the social problems of our time: against war, violence, marginalisation and environmental destruction.

The audio piece 'Donauwasser1' by Marie Hak (b. 1993) from Rottweil, invites you to listen to the Danube – recorded with baffled A-B stereo technology, a binaural recording technique that creates a remarkably three-dimensional soundscape.
