Sandra Eades - a room and a view

09.06. – 06.10.2024, in the 2-Raum

Sandra Eades  (*1949 in Chelmsford, UK) combines photography and Painting, collage-like, to an independent genre – "Photo/Painting". She is one of the first artists to use this process in this way. She photographs analogue, i.e. she still uses films that have to be developed. Often, places have inspired these photos.

In this exhibition, Sandra Eades shows works from a group of works that she started as a scholarship holder of the Provence-Alpes-Côté'azur region at Villa Tamaris and on which she is still working today. Her studio, located on the top floor of Villa Tamaris, has a view over the entire bay of Toulon. This situation gave the series of pictures the title: "A Room and a View". Julia Berghoff writes: "A Room and a View" already refers with its title to two levels of reality that Eades reveals in these works, the material space (room) and the associated perception, the gaze. (View)

Transparency, fluidity, shadow and light manifest space and time.
