Stefan Strumbel

18.11.2018 – 24.03.2019, in the 2-Raum

The final 2-Raum exhibition of 2018 is devoted to Stefan Strumbel (*1979), who lives and works in Offenburg.

Over the last few years, the young artist has been grappling with the loaded subject of home and homeland and with the associated symbolism that is born of time-honoured traditions, ideals and values. He uses gaudy colours and clever texts to give folkloristic objects such as cuckoo clocks a distinctive and striking appearance. With his unique mix of folk art, pop art and street art, Strumbel has firmly established himself on the international art market.

In recent years, he has developed a more universal visual language that draws on bubble wrap as the symbol of protection, safeguarding anything one might want to transport or preserve - be that values, substance or emotions.
