Inaugurated in September 2009, today’s Museum Art.Plus has been presenting international contemporary art in a series of temporary exhibitions in its beautiful premises right next to the palace park.

A visit to Museum Art.Plus is always worthwhile, both because of the art on display and because the building’s architecture is almost a work of art in its own right. In 2008, the listed former cinema building was converted into an art museum. Sustainability and ecological integrity were at the forefront of the refurbishment. Painstakingly and judiciously renovated, the building radiates stylish simplicity, impressing visitors not only with its bright, friendly façade, but also with a wealth of thoughtful details inside. The splendid hall of mirrors with its magnificent chandelier, old brickwork, beautiful wooden floors and a modern concrete extension are just some of the architectural highlights. In 2011, the building was awarded the German Architecture Prize and the Hugo-Häring Prize.
