BINE

The Bine chair, which I designed in 1991 for the renowned Milan-based design studio Sawaya and Moroni, is perhaps the best known. Its perspectival structure is emphasized by a graphic pattern of lines that highlight its form, making it certainly more striking than comfortable. It is the opposite of what would normally be considered the right approach, but in this case, it is intentional driven by the desire to create an active and surprising architectural presence for an object that is traditionally passive.
Today, it is produced directly by the Marcello Morandini Foundation: in wood, as a numbered unlimited edition, and also in plexiglass as a special limited edition of 30 numbered pieces.
