I grew up in Italy as a South Tyrolean; I speak the South Tyrolean dialect, that is, German as well as Italian. This means that I grew up between two cultures: in a cultural IN BETWEEN. The house, built from larch branches that I brought from South Tyrol – more specifically from the Sarntal Alps – to my studio in Stuttgart, embodies an open structure. The house can be entered and invites visitors to inhabit it. Its divided structure creates, in purely spatial terms, another IN BETWEEN.
